Craft Time!!!

Lily napped in a BED instead of my sweaty arms today (sorry if that's gross but we're without a.c. and it's definitely sweaty when you're snuggling). Anyway, she laid down. Hurray! This left me with a dilemma: nap or craft?

You can sleep when you're dead. That's what I say. (I actually don't say that. I really like sleeping, but I also LOVE to craft and it just hasn't really been happening since the girl came along.

Technically, I only did a half craft because I started this one back when I was pregnant. I was inspired over here and decided to make my very own yarn wreath. Kinda weird because I usually think that wreaths are just for outside and mostly just for Christmas, but I really loved hers and I was really pregnant and so I just went for it!

(I know this one is dark but I wanted you to see how well it goes with the awesome curtains my AWESOME mama made me!)

By the way, I love Danielle's blog (not just her crafts) and she and her husband have just started the adoption process which makes me so excited! I really feel called to adopt someday and sometimes it is hard for me to wait for the right timing. Luckily, in the meantime, I can read all about other people's adopting adventures. She also sells her adorable wreaths and all the money she makes is for their adoption fund... So if you like mine, her's are even way cuter and you can buy them here.

OK I got to have a mini craft time AND time to blog about. I feel like there is a hungry baby in my immediate future. Love that girl!

A sad, sad story.

Late last Thursday night we were frantically finishing our packing for the upcoming trip to KC. As we desperately stuffed diapers, clothes, toiletries and whatnot into 4 carryon bags (we flew Frontier this time dang it- no free bags) the following convo occurred:

Hunter: Did you pack the camera?
Me: Of course. (Duh)
Hunter: Well where is the charger?
Me: (Beaming with pride because I never remember things like chargers) It's already packed!!

Ready for the tragic ending?

About 4 pictures and 5 minutes after arrival the camera died. So I triumphantly remove the charger to find that it's the VIDEO camera cord. Sad.

(Lily's first flight was great. She's a champ!)

Anyway. The weekend was great and a LOT of pictures were taken by everyone else :) Lily got to meet her other 2 uncles and MANY other friends and family! (Unfortunately Trey did not get back until after the camera pooped out so I will have to get those pics from someone.)

Trav also had a killer 70s themed birthday party that I can't wait to see pictures from! Now we're just still trying to adjust back to being home and Lil is remembering what it's like not to be held 24/7. Thanks a lot grandma and grandpa... She's not enjoying the transition!

It's good to be home though. Even if we did have chips and salsa for dinner last night. That's right. I'm competing for wife of the year. Our house also looks like a train wreck. Working moms, HOW do you do it? You have my complete respect and admiration! This girl alone is more than I can handle :)

Life is good.

Life is actually great when your baby sleeps 4 hours in a row. Not only did she sleep (which means I slept for the first time in 3 days) but after she ate this morning, she stayed HAPPILY awake for an entire hour and then put herself to sleep without so much as a scream!

Not only that but it's 9:30 am and I have makeup on, I've had a large coffee and a chocolate cupcake. I'll say it again.

Life. is. good.

(For those of you who had the privilege of spending time with me yesterday... you know how bad I needed a morning like this. Thanks for the encouragement and love!!)

On being a mom.

I've officially been a mama for 2 weeks & 4 days now. It's amazing how much you are capable of changing in 18 short days.

The other day my brother (and one of my very best buds) asked me how I looked at life differently since Lily came into the world. Whoa. HUGE question... but that's what I love about Tyler. He is definitely not afraid to throw those big scary questions onto the table. So I've been trying really hard to figure out how to put it into words, but I'm struggling.

It's like every single thing is just a whole new level of awesome, if that makes any sense. Even the things that I didn't think a baby would have any effect on. I mean obviously I love Lily with an intensity I've never experienced before... but I was expecting that. What's crazy is how much more I love my hubby now too. I really loved him a lot before. As much as I was capable at the time I guess. But now it's as though my ability to love has really expanded because of this sweet little baby girl. Amazing. What a huge gift and a blessing! Loving people more and better is just one step closer to being the woman that God created me to be. I mean this little bundle of joy is showing me the gospel in such a tangible way and a way I've never been able to experience it before. I genuinely want to love and take care of people far more than I did before she was here.
Being a mom is also the most humbling experience I've ever had & something tells me maybe it may be the most humbling experience I ever will have. Every single time I look at Lil I am reminded that not only am I not worthy of such a beautiful gift, but I could never create anything near as perfect on my own. She is a blessing and that's it. There is no room for my usual pride and arrogance because all I can do is be so thankful every minute.

There is so much more I could say about this but I think it may already be a bit rambly... I think I'll continue in my journal. Besides, I'm running on a few short hours of sleep so I'll apologize for spelling/ grammar issues ahead of time. (My tiny perfect blessing is HUNGRY these days... I mean like every hour & a half hungry!)

Lily Belle

Holy cow! It's already been 9 days since miss Lily FINALLY graced us with her presence! It's crazy how fast time flies when you're staring at a precious baby :)

Lily Belle Greeno
Sunday June 26th at 11:05 am.
7 lbs 8 oz
21 inches

She is totally worth every single minute of waiting. She sleeps really well... when she feels like it. We're just trying to figure out a schedule for now. She's also figured out the eating thing & does really well... when she feels like :) This sweet girl definitely knows how she likes things & she doesn't mind telling ya.
We are blessed beyond belief and so thankful!
